Good day for the Bears
After two pathetic performances by Chad Hutchinson, the Bears finally named Kyle Orton the starter for the regular-season opener against the Redskins. Hutch moved to fourth on the depth chart behind Orton, Jeff Blake, and Kurt Kittner.
The Bears also agreed to a five-year contract with 36-day holdout Cedric Benson. Benson was the last first-round pick to sign. The details of the contract were not made available, but the deal was rumored to contain $17 million of guaranteed money.
