Merck found negligent

Merck has been held liable by a Texas jury in the first lawsuit involving Vioxx. The jury awarded over $250 million to the widow of a Texas man who died of a heart attack while taking Vioxx. Some 20 million people have used Vioxx. Since the recall, about 4,200 product liability lawsuits representing about 7,500 plaintiff groups have been filed against Merck. Merck plans to appeal the Texas jury's decision.
