Boilers win thanks to an assist from Purdue's greatest alum
Purdue ended up defeating Northwestern today by what looks to be a decisive 35-17 victory. However, the game was very much in doubt until the last few minutes of the fourth quarter.
After scoring 14 points in the first quarter, Purdue was down 17-14 at the end of the third quarter.
That is when Neil Armstrong led the Boiler fans in the singing of Shout, which has become a tradition that is supposed to get the fans fired up for the start of the fourth quarter. The crowd went nuts when Armstrong was introduced by the PA announcer.
The Boilers then rallied to score three touchdowns in the final quarter to win their seventh game of the season.
To be fair, Armstrong should not get all of the credit for the Boilers' impressive performance in the fourth quarter.
The defense was great all day, but especially in the fourth quarter. The Boiler D didn't allow a Wildcat first down in the final 15 minutes, which enabled Purdue's offense to score the necessary points for the victory.
Purdue is now 7-2 and will travel to Happy Valley next week to take on Penn St.
Armstrong wasn't just on campus for the game. He came for the dedication of the new engineering building that is named in his honor.

Low Watt-age
Gordon Watt is with the Boilers no longer.
Coach Painter dismissed Watt Friday after he was arrested for a DUI early that same morning.
Watt was dismissed because he had another alochol related arrest back in October 2005. At that time, Painter made it clear that another arrest would be the end of Watt's career.
The giant banner featuring Watt was still hanging from Mackey Arena last Saturday. I'm guessing it won't be there when I go down this Saturday.
Keaton Grant was arrested along with Watt on Friday. He has been suspended for the first three games of the season.
On a related note, Gene Keady inked a deal with the Big Ten Network to be a part of the studio team along with Jimmy Jackson and Tim Doyle.

More coverage of Nappanee tornado
The Indy Star has an article on the damage in Nappanee.
WGN sent a reporter and she filed this report.

Tornado rocks Nappanee
Parts of Nappanee were blasted last night around 10:30 by a tornado. Luckily, there have been only minor injuries reported.
The picture to the right shows what is left of our Taco Bell.
Weather officials are saying that the tornado appears to have been an EF3, which have winds around 165 mph.
You can read about the aftermath here, here, and here.

Wanny tears Achilles
Dave Wannstedt, former Chicago Bears head coach, tore his left Achilles tendon yesterday morning.
No word on whether or not Dave's Achilles was torn while he was grooming his breathtaking 'stache.

Big sale at fathead.com
I was over at fathead.com looking around and I noticed that you can get a Rex Grossman fathead at a heavily discounted price.
I was disappointed to see that there still is no Kyle Orton fathead available.

Baylor coach in a wee bit of trouble
Baylor's offensive line/tight ends coach was suspended indefinitely today after being cited for urinating on the bar at a tavern in Waco early Sunday morning.
Eric Schnupp had just made it back to town after Baylor's crushing defeat at the hands of the Kansas Jayhawks, 58-10.
The funny thing is that the bartender told police that Schnupp drank several shots of hard liquor that other people had bought for him.
After Baylor's pitiful display in Kansas, I think Schnupp should've been the one buying the drinks for the fans instead of the other way around.

Dusty is back in the NL Central
The Reds have decided to bring in Dusty as their manager for the next three seasons.
I'm thinking about taking out an insurance policy on Aaron Harang's pitching arm because I'm sure Dusty will ruin it just like Mark Prior's and Kerry Wood's.
