Softball Week 8

We played on the small field tonight and have the stats to prove it. Mark drilled three homers including a granny. Erv had two and Adam got his first of the year. I missed the first game, which had a final score of 31-21 (we won), because I went to the Cubs game today. I did make it back in time to get three ABs in the second game. I made the most of my three chances by hitting two dingers. OK Dave, I know that making the most out of three chances would be three homers, but two out of three isn't bad. We ended up winning both games pushing our record to 4-8.

Adam Morrison

I thought Adam Morrison was a nancy boy after I watched him bawling on the court after Gonzaga's loss to UCLA in the NCAA tournament, but I really like his new NBA Live 2007 commercials. You can watch one of them here. He has one about crying too, but that's not up on You Tube yet. You can watch it here if you have Quicktime installed.

Cubs Swept by the Twinkies

Sure the Cubs got swept by the Twins, that isn't surprising. However, getting beat by a rookie pitcher named Boof Bonser is pretty embarrassing. Boof shut the Cubs down through 6+ innings last night. Hopefully the Cubs and Mark Prior with his 9.64 ERA put on a good show against the Brewers on Thursday for my dad and I.

Softball Week 7

Plenty of homers to go around tonight. Erv cracked a 2-run homer, I hit a 3-run tater, and Mark hit a nancy boy inside-the-park homerun. Adam pitched well once again. He looked like Greg Maddux out there fielding several grounders that were hit up the middle. We ended up winning one and losing one to push our record to 2-8.

Cubs ink Samardzija

The Cubs signed Samardzija to a five-year deal worth up to $7.25 million. Because he signed the deal with the Cubs, Jeff cannot play football for the Irish this fall. Ok now stop crying you Notre Dame fanboys, I made that last part up. He will still be playing football for the Irish in the fall.

I'm not Rusching to Judgment

After yesterday's performance, I think it's time to send Glendon Rusch far far away (and I'm not talking about the bullpen, Dusty). Glendon couldn't get out of the second inning yesterday against the Tigers. I'd compare his pitching performance to Adam's last night in church softball. Rusch (2-7) gave up four runs and six hits in just one 2/3 innings.

Softball Week 6

Another sad sack performance from myself and the team. Neither game made it past the 5th inning thanks to the 10-run rule. I turned in a brilliant 0-for-5 night (that's right, 5 ABs in two games). Erv and Kenny each had a couple hits. Our special guest star, Dustin, crushed a triple off the center field fence. We play again Monday at 6:00.

Call Me "Coach"

The Big "O" showed off his great mental acumen today when he hired me to be the head varsity softball coach. It should be an interesting season.

Splintered Wood

Kerry Wood found his way back on the DL today with what is being called right-shoulder stiffness. Wood, who missed the first month and a half of the season while recovering from shoulder surgery performed in August, appeared in four games with a 1-2 record and a 4.12 ERA. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to June 7.

I'm back baby

The cable guy came today and I'm back online. I haven't had much time to enjoy the cable tv or Internet yet since I had to mow the lawn and clean out my gutters.

New posts for everyone!

As most of you know, I moved into my first house over the weekend and haven’t had much time to update the blog. I’m scheduled to get cable on Friday morning so be looking forward to more frequent updates. I’m sure owning a home will give me a lot of things to whine and complain about.

Softball Week 5

After another rainout in Week 4 and a bye last week, we were finally back in action on Monday. Not even a lack of sleep could prevent me from drilling my 2nd homer of the year. I almost added a second one late in the second game, but it hit off the fence. If I would’ve been running instead of staring at it, I probably would’ve had a triple instead of a double. As for the team, we lost both games again. We are now a pathetic 1-5.

Worst.Weekend.Ever.

This weekend was the server overhaul at the school corp. Things didn’t go nearly as well as my boss had hoped and because of that I logged 35 hours from 6:00 pm on Friday to Monday morning at 10:00 when I finally had to leave. The worst weekend has continued into the worst week ever. If you count Sunday as this work week, I’ve managed to tally 48 hours as of Wednesday night. All of that gives me 62 total hours on this overhaul since last Friday evening at 6:00.
